No longer will you have to go out in the frigid cold and dark winter’s nights just to make sure you have the required postage to send out those bills the next day. Before the advent of the internet, if you were like me and forgot to make the trip to the Post Office to buy stamps, those bills might not have gotten there on time.

Or you would have had to gotten up super early before work the next day to get the stamps. But the long lines at the Post Office might limit you from succeeding in this mission or risk the chance of being late to work. No more! Here is how to order postage online from home without ever having to go to the Post Office again.

You will first need to find a website that is USPS (United States Postal Service) verified. There are many, but the one I strongly recommend you use is Stamps.com. I use this website because I find it much easier and faster than the other websites. You can use USPS’ official website as well.

Yes you will have to enter credit card and billing information to print it out. The websites though are encrypted using super high-tech security systems to protect you against fraudulent use. If you are too scared to use your credit cards over the internet, you are going to have to revert back to old times and actually go to the Post Office.

The first thing that you will need to do is to sign up for a new account. All of the verified dealers will require you to do this. This is an added security measure for your own good and they will use this information in the print out as the return address. You will also be given a unique code to track your package as it works its way to its final destination. You will just have to go back to the website, enter the code and it will tell you where it was last checked at.

You will then need to enter the recipient’s name and address and the weight of the package to order postage online. You will have the ability to buy different types just like you would at the Post Office. You can select from priority mail, overnight, etc. The more your package weighs, the more you are going to have to pay. Make sure you weigh the package with reliable scale. If you pay too little, you risk the chance of the package not making it to its destination. Or the recipient will be required to pay the extra amount you were short.
